For you cracks out there – skip the following, it’s probably boring… For those who are still learning and cracks-to-be it migtht be helpful though…
Since last night my has a new home. Moving was no problem, even without a U-haul at my side…
Here are the steps to take:
1) Backup your database (i.e. with phpMyAdmin) – this creates a *.SQL file or a *.ZIP with an SQL inside.
2) Note database name, database user name and password for the old database.
3) Backup all your files (includint subdirectories) with an FTP client.
4) On the new server, create a database with the same name, database user and password as in step2.
5) Import your *.SQL from step 1 into the new database (yes, use phpMyAdmin again).
6) Upload all your files from step 3 to the new server.
That’s all…
Oh and – beforehand make sure that both servers – the old one and the new one – can be reached via http: (your browser) and ftp: (your ftp client).
Easy, wasn’t it? :-)
