Woohoo – finally my Instant Buzz toolbar seems to work OK in Firefox (yeah – it is really version 2.0 already!). ‘Seems to’ because Firefox is sometimes behaving a little strange and I have not figured out yet, if it is a bug in the brandnew version 2.0 or if it is still something with the IB toolbar – it has shown me sort of its rough edges so far… We’ll see and keep watching…
Anyways, you can go and download the tuned IB Firefox plugin – not right here though, as I don’t want to infringe anyone’s legal interest’s – certainly not those of Instant Buzz and Mike Filsaime…
1) The plugin is only interesting if you are an InstantBuzz user anyway, so I have posted the link in the Community-Forum. So just go there…
2) do a search for ‘Firefox 2.0 Plugin’ and you will (hopefully) find my post with the download-link.
3) download and unzip and then drag and drop the .xpi into the open Add-ons window in Firefox. That should be it.
If it does not work (quite yet), then go check your firewall security settings (hint: if IB works in IE, then this is OK); still another cause could be some temporary IB files that still linger somewhere on your PC. There is good information about how to tackle this one: go to the Community – Peer to Peer Help Forum and do a search for ‘Loading…’
Have fun
P.S. A little tidbit: IB does not load any ads and shows ‘Loading…’, if there are temporary (buzzxxx.htm) files present. You can prevent this if you go to Options/Settings/Privacy and then click ‘Delete private data when exiting …’ (I hope that this is the right wording as I am not using FF with the English interface language – maybe some comments…) That should do it.
update: Instant buzz people probably did not linke my contribution
and they have not updated their firefox toolbar either. that’s why I have discarded using it – works just as well…
